A Note from your Board Chair

Adam Thompson,
FocalPoint Business Coaching
Welcome to summer! Kids are out (or almost out) of school, boats are in the water, patio season is in full swing, and the Wayzata West Metro Chamber communities are ramping up for summer events. This season is truly the reason we live in Minnesota.
There is so much happening with the Chamber this month:
- Morning MemberNet is on Tuesday, June 3, 7:30 – 9 AM. If you like your networking in the morning, join us at the Wayzata Legion.
- Minnesota Neuropsychology Ribbon Cutting is Tuesday, June 3, 4 – 5 PM. Meet Dr. Adams and her team as we welcome them to their new office.
- Statewide Policy Tour – Wayzata West Metro, on Thursday, June 5, from 8:30 – 9:30 AM, is your opportunity to hear how recent legislative actions will impact your business. The MN Chamber’s policy experts will break down what passed, what didn’t, and what it means for Minnesota and your business. This is a free event, but pre-registration is mandatory.
- Navigating Minnesota’s New Paid Leave Program Webinar, put on by the Minnesota Chamber, is Thursday, June 5. Unfortunately, registration for this event is at maximum capacity. If you want a recording of this webinar, click here.
- DeepHaven Rejuvenation Ribbon Cutting is Tuesday, June 17, from 4 – 5 PM at the Chamber Office (Wayzata Depot). You’ll hear from Candance Wostrel-Glatch, owner of this innovative concierge med spa service.
- Minnetonka Business Council is Wednesday, June 18, from 7:30 – 9 AM. We are pleased to partner with the City of Minnetonka in offering this programming again in 2025. This program is for Minnetonka-based business professionals or business owners.
- Club Pilates – Wayzata Ribbon Cutting is Tuesday, June 24, from 4 – 5 PM. Owner Teresa Coleman will show you this brand-new Reformer Pilates studio.
- The 66th Annual Roger Miller Golf Classic is coming up Monday, June 30! Spend the afternoon on the greens at the gorgeous Medina Country Club. Register with a foursome, or as an individual – all levels welcome. Register today!
Finally, it is Wayzata Art Experience month! There are plenty of opportunities to get involved on a volunteer level. Whether you are interested in helping with set up, being a resource on site for visitors, or slinging drinks in the beer tent (featuring wine from Everly Farms Winery, our new Presenting Sponsor!), there is a role for you and a way to give back. Thanks in advance to all of our Wavemakers!
I want to close by bragging about our Chamber a bit, as it is thriving! This is a tough time for many chambers. The articles about financial struggles, declining membership, and potential mergers with chambers around the country seem to be endless. The Wayzata West Metro Chamber of Commerce is bucking that trend, with growing membership, vibrant events, strong engagement, and a growing commitment to our communities. You should be proud of the Chamber that you have helped build; I know I am.
See you around town,
Adam

The City of Wayzata is in the process of installing the stepdown on the Panoway Lakewalk. The two stepdowns were originally designed to give even more access to the lake. They will be installed this spring adjacent to the section of the lakewalk with benches. The City will also be installing life preservers nearby as well as signage to indicate that fishing, swimming, and docking boats is prohibited.

Congratulations to Relate Counseling Center for celebrating 55 years of Mental Health and Wellness work in our community. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we are extremely grateful for their work ensuring mental health services remain accessible to all.
