A Note from your Board Chair

Dear Chamber Members and Friends, as we welcome spring, here are some recent highlights and updates from the Chamber.
In case you missed it, we had some pretty big and exciting news to share in February. We are thrilled to have Judy Johnson as our incoming Chamber President taking over for Becky Pierson who is retiring. The transition is underway, with Judy’s official start date set for later this March. We’ve also begun searching for her replacement to ensure a smooth leadership handoff. Our 41st Annual Wayzata Chilly Open was a great success! The weather mostly cooperated, with a breeze that was a bit strong at times—but that’s winter in Minnesota. Thanks to everyone who joined us for a day of fun, friendly competition, and community connection.
At the end of February, our 2nd Leadership Luncheon featured state business leaders discussing the current Minnesota economy. It was an insightful event that offered valuable perspectives for our local businesses. Please join us for our next Leadership Luncheon: State of the Cities/Meet the Mayors on Thursday, March 12th. Panelists include: Wayzata Mayor Andrew Mullin, Minnetonka Mayor Rebecca Schack (newly elected in 2025), Plymouth Mayor Jeff Wosje, and Long Lake Mayor Charlie Miner. We will dive into what drives these mayors to public service, what makes them tick, what is the best and worst part about their jobs, and what they see for the future of their cities. Don’t miss the March Morning MemberNet on Tuesday, March 17 from 7:30 – 9 AM. Start your St. Paddy’s Day off with Chamber members at the Wayzata American Legion to kick-start your day with great connections and meaningful conversations. Coffee will be hot and breakfast treats will be ready. Click here to register.
Lastly, the Wayzata Art Experience is June 27 & 28! The application for interested artists closes on Saturday, March 21. Do you know a talented individual looking to share their work? Tell them to apply! Sponsorships are available and a great way to get your business in front of 20,000. Reach out to Brooke Beyer, brooke@wayzatawestmetrochamber.com, to learn more.
We look forward to seeing you at upcoming Chamber events. These gatherings are great opportunities to connect and support our business community.
Warm regards,
Matt Schadow
