A NOTE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR

Chamber members, 

August is summertime’s glorious “victory lap”. After two months of nonstop fun in the sun, August grants us one last chance to stop and smell the roses before school resumes and businesses ramp up. The eighth month of the calendar year brings us time to still play in the water, enjoy moments with family members, and participate in exciting Chamber opportunities!

Join us on August 13 as we welcome Lakeside Decking with a Ribbon Cutting Celebration. The fun continues with our Libations by the Lake on Thursday, August 22 at Lord Fletcher’s Wharf. Enjoy refreshing drinks, great company, and the stunning views of Lake Minnetonka. Many Chamber members have added their events to our calendar for August. The Chamber Person of the Year event is just around the corner, and we need your help to identify the exceptional person who has made a significant impact in our community. Please submit a nomination for the Chamber Person of the Year Award by August 16. We hope to see you at this great event on Thursday, October 10, click here to register. 

Lastly, August is the springboard for this year’s 50th anniversary celebration of James J. Hill Days, September 6-8. You can help us celebrate this major festival milestone in multiple ways!

MEMBER UPDATES

Congratulations to Finn + Lola Pet Hospitality on their three-year anniversary! Within those three years, they’ve welcomed 19 new families, accomplished 160 Homestay Nights, and 2,095 miles of dog walks.

With the help of the community, Crew Carwash’s Crew for Kids raised $201,786 in total for Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across Indiana and Minnesota. The company has raised more than $1,200,000 for the nonprofit since its inaugural Crew for Kids fundraiser in 2010. This year, over $10,900 will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities.

Congratulations to Pro-Tree on celebrating 10 Years! Over the past 10 years, Pro-Tree has grown from a small startup to a leading name in arboriculture, expanding our team, services, and expertise. Way to go, team!

Congratulations to McCormick’s Pub & Restaurant on 14 years of great service and fantastic food. What a milestone to celebrate!

The 2024 Elections are already taking center stage as we head to Election Day on November 5th. Aside from the national races, the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to partner with the League of Women Voters Wayzata-Plymouth to raise awareness and encourage our members to attend upcoming local candidate forums. Several races in the west metro impact the business community. There are key races at the city, school, county, legislative, and congressional levels. This is a great opportunity to share matters of interest and importance to you while meeting the candidates seeking your support. The Chamber hopes you will attend one or more forums and make your voice heard.
