Dear Chamber Members and Friends,
We have some wonderful updates to share as we move into April. Thank you to all those who stopped by the Farewell Open House for Becky at the end of March. It was an opportunity to honor her contributions and commitment to the Chamber. We are also excited to share that the Wayzata Mayor and City Council recognized Becky’s impact by proclaiming Thursday, March 26, as Becky Pierson Day, in recognition of her outstanding leadership, enduring partnership, and immeasurable contributions to the City of Wayzata and the surrounding community. We are very happy for Becky as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her life and look forward to seeing where her journey takes her next.

MEMBER UPDATES

We loved seeing so many familiar faces stop by the Open House to share hugs, stories, and special moments with Becky. Thank you to those who attended and thank you to Becky for a wonderful 13 years!

“Following a highly competitive national search against a fantastic group of both internal and external candidates, I am proud to welcome Aurora Yager as the next City Manager of Wayzata” said Mayor Andrew Mullin. “Aurora brings exactly the kind of dynamic leadership and collaborative spirit our city needs, and the Council and I look forward to working alongside her.” Aurora shared, “I am truly honored to serve as Wayzata’s next City Manager and look forward to continuing to serve this special community alongside our exceptional City staff and dedicated City Council.” View the press release here.

Don Davidson, President and Principal Dealer of Sears Imported Autos was recently mentioned in Minneapolis Business Journal with his business partner, and purchased the rights to a pocket-sized medical device that mimics the circulation benefits of walking. The device pumps the muscles in the calves through an adhesive electrode pad, mimicking what the calves would do if the person was walking. “One hour with this device is the equivalent of 3,600 steps,” Davidson said. “Look at a care center. People are in there because they can’t walk.” The Minnetonka-based company is also moving production from overseas to Minnesota.

Congratulations to the newest Exceptional Service Award Winner, YogaSix Minnetonka! One nominator wrote, “Their customer service has been exceptional and the free class I took was awesome! It was super helpful to experience a session before making any commitment. It prompted me to schedule additional sessions along with my daughter. A fine studio and a very accommodating staff.” A special thank you to Business & Estate Advisers for supporting this award and helping us recognize businesses that truly go above and beyond.

Welcome Ana Powers, Membership Services Manager!

During my tenure as program and events manager for the Midway Area Chamber of Commerce, where I was afforded the opportunity to bolster events and relevant programming for the local business community, I found an affinity towards the client relations side of chamber life. I look forward to building a rapport with members and affiliates to foster new relationships as well as growing community and sponsor support and involvement.
I am eager to collaboratively grow and enhance the chamber atmosphere as we strive for diverse membership, along with continued economic development and strong civic leadership. I can’t wait to learn more about all the exciting businesses and owner success stories, as I become familiar with the bustling Wayzata and surrounding west metro area!
