A Note from your Board Chair

Dear Wayzata West Metro Chamber Members
I’m pleased to share some exciting news on behalf of the Chamber. After a thoughtful search and careful consideration, we have named Judy Johnson as our new Chamber President. Judy’s background positions her well to build on the tremendous work and legacy of Becky Pierson. Becky has done so much to strengthen our programs, partnerships, and member engagement — and Judy is committed to building on that momentum! Because Judy is stepping into this new role, we will also need to identify and recruit someone to fill the position she is leaving. The Board is currently finalizing the formal timing of the transition and will share details as they are confirmed. You can read more about this transition here.
As we move through these winter months, I encourage you to get out and enjoy Minnesota’s season — take advantage of winter activities and community events. In particular, be sure to check out the Wayzata Chilly Open—taking place February 7th. Tickets are available for the PRO, 10 am and 2 pm tee times. This is a great opportunity to connect with neighbors and have some fun in the cold!
Here are some other events to jump into:
- This is a Can’t-Miss Leadership Luncheon: The State of our Economy – Minnesota’s Future in Focus on Thursday, February 12 from 11:30 – 1 PM. Hear from a dynamic panel of business and civic leaders as they dig into the 2026 Business Benchmarks Report, recently released by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce focused on the MSP region and Minnesota. Register here.
- February Morning MemberNet on Tuesday, February 17 from 7:30 – 9:00 AM at the Wayzata American Legion. Bring your business cards and come network. Register here.
- EmpowHER Women’s Network: Intentional 2026 – Define, Feel, Impact on Wednesday, February 25 at Modernwell Wayzata from 4 – 5:30 PM. This interactive mix & mingle session will include small-group breakout conversations. Together, you’ll have a reflective conversation designed to help you define success on your terms, reconnect with how you want to feel in the year ahead, and identify meaningful ways to create positive impact. Register here.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Wayzata West Metro Chamber. We look forward to this transition with optimism and to continuing to strengthen our community together.
Warm regards,
Matt Schadow
